City and Guilds Level 2 barbering course that is perfect for those who are looking for an introduction into cutting men's hair.

What will I study?

During this course you will learn the theory behind the cutting you practice and gain a thorough understanding of how to effectively deliver cutting services to men.

How long is the course?

26 weeks, one evening per week

How will I be assessed?

You will be continually assessed throughout the course, completing assessments on clients and written assignments

You will also build a portfolio, to showcase practical skills and experiences that you have developed on your course.

What qualifications do I need?

A English Level 2 qualification.

What can I progress onto?

Progression onto Level 2 women's hairdressing.

Other Information

Both Image Centres have state of the art facilities offering a realistic working environment. You will need to purchase a kit and Image Centre uniform. You will also have the opportunity to participate in enrichment, trips, shows and competitions.

This programme requires independent work from home, 3 hours per week on top of the three hours college attendance.

  • Shaves and trims beards and moustaches.
  • Combs, brushes, blow-dries or sets wet hair in rollers to style or straighten.
  • Cuts and trims hair using scissors, clippers, razor and comb.
  • Washes, conditions, bleaches, tints or dyes hair and provides any necessary basic scalp treatments.
  • Discusses customer requirements, analyses hair condition and other relevant features to define and advise on hair style.
