Is this course for me?

This is a Level 3 Health & Social care programme for 16 18 year olds who want to pursue a career in nursing. You will gain skills to begin a career as a nurse within the NHS and health or social care sectors. The course is suitable for those who has a genuine interest in caring for people and are looking to embark on a career in this rewarding industry.

What will I study?

You will study the course at College and gain valuable supervised work experience one day a week in the first year alongside NHS professionals in real situations. You will get the chance to work on different wards and departments in local hospitals. In the second year your supervised placement will be two days a week. You will rotate roles during your placement.

How long is the course?

Full time for two academic years.

How will I be assessed?

You will be required to complete 2 exams per year and a set task.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 A*-C / 9-4 GCSE subjects or equivalent including maths, English and science.

What can I progress onto?

You can progress on to university level Health related courses or into employment within the health sector.

Other Information

Students will be required to wear a uniform and undertake an occupational health check.
