Is this course for me?

The world of media and journalism is exciting and offers a wide-range of career opportunities. This pathway has been designed to equip you with a range of skills and experiences to support your UCAS application for media and creative or contemporary journalism degrees. We have combined traditional academic A Level subjects with professional media and journalism experiences to offer you a comprehensive programme of study.

What will I study?

You will study a suite of A Levels including; English, Economics or Media Studies, Psychology or Sociology or History, plus a further AS Level in year 1. You will also benefit from our unique Professional Development Day which includes an Extended Project Qualification, work placements, voluntary work and masterclasses delivered by industry experts. You will also have the opportunity to join the Debating Society and the iDEA online programme to develop digital skills.

How long is the course?

Full time for two academic years

How will I be assessed?

You will undertake external examinations, produce coursework and practical assessments.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 8 GCSEs graded A*- C / 9 - 5 of which a minimum of 4 GCSEs graded B / 9 - 6 (including English, Maths and Science)

What can I progress onto?

Successful students will be able to apply for a place at a Russell Group University studying media and journalism, or another creative degree. There are many career prospects and experienced journalists can expect to earn over £35k a year. Other careers include Broadcast Journalists, Investigative Journalist, TV/Film Producer, Script Writer and PR Manager.
