Is this course for me?

Teachers are valued professionals who can make a real difference to young peoples' lives. In teaching, each day is very different. This pathway will provide you with the academic knowledge and skills to pursue a career with lots of opportunities for progression. We combine traditional academic A Level subjects with essential professional related experience to offer you a comprehensive programme of study.

What will I study?

You will study 4 AS subjects in the first year: English Combined, Psychology, Sociology and a further AS Level. You will have a dedicated Professional Development Day where you will further your studies and knowledge with a range of activities including: the Extended Project Qualification, Tomorrows Teachers Programme, Work placement, a Student Conference and planning an international fieldtrip

How long is the course?

Full time for two academic years

How will I be assessed?

You will undertake external examinations, produce coursework and practical assessments.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 8 GCSEs graded A*- C / 9 - 5 of which a minimum of 4 GCSEs graded B / 9 - 6 (including English, Maths and Science)

What can I progress onto?

Successful students may apply for a place at a Russell Group University studying teaching at degree level. Experienced teachers can expect to earn over £40,000 a year. Other teaching positions include Head of Division, Head of Year, Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and School Inspector.
