This programme has been developed to provide you with the very best opportunities to enable you to develop the essential skills needed to secure your chosen career path and for your future success. We have combined both traditional academic A Level subjects with essential professional related experiences to offer you a comprehensive programme of study. The Applied Medical Professional Honours Programme will prepare you for progression towards specific medical careers. You will gather evidence and gain the necessary skills to support your UCAS application for medical based degrees. Students undertake a medical related work placement, voluntary and charity work opportunities. These experiences will help you build vital skills and expand your personal development, as well as boosting applications to top universities and employers. The Colleges strong industry links, combined with its purpose built state-of-the-art facilities, provide the foundations for establishing a dynamic career, with the support of industry experienced professional tutors.

What will I study?

You will explore the variety of life through Biology A Level, researching DNA structure and the study of cells. You will also study Chemistry, Maths and an additional AS subject in the first year. And you will benefit from the Professional Development Day, which includes the Debating Society and the iDEA online programme to develop digital skills.

How long is the course?

Full time for two academic years

How will I be assessed?

You will undertake external examinations, produce coursework and practical assessments

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 8 GCSEs graded 9 - 5 of which a minimum of 4 GCSEs graded 9 - 6 (including English, Maths and Science)

What can I progress onto?

On successful completion we will support you in applying to study at prestigious universities nationwide to study medicine and other medical related degrees. If you wish to secure employment within the medical sector we will support you in your job searches and applications. There are many career prospects and Consultant Surgeons can expect to earn over £100,000 a year. Other careers include Veterinary Surgeon, Zoologist, Radiographer, Clinical Scientist, Cardio-Pulmonary Perfusionist, Pharmacist and Dentistry.

Generalist Medical Practitioners

Generalist medical practitioners diagnose mental and physical injuries, disorders and diseases, prescribe and give treatment, recommend preventative action, and conduct medical education and research activities. They work in hospitals or in general practice and, where necessary, refer the patient to a specialist.

  • Supervises the implementation of care and treatment plans by other healthcare providers.
  • Prepares and delivers lectures, undertakes research, and conducts and participates in clinical trials.

  • Administers medical tests and inoculations against communicable diseases.
