If you want to progress towards legal careers, gathering evidence and gaining the necessary skills to support your UCAS application for law related degrees then this course is for you.You will hone debating skills and take part in a Bar Mock Trial, as well as taking up voluntary and charity work opportunities.
These experiences will help you build vital skills and expand your personal development, as well as boosting applications to top universities and employers.

Following successful completion of the AS year you may choose to continue to study all four subjects to A Level.
However, you may progress with three subjects and retain an AS qualification in one, which will contribute to your UCAS or higher apprenticeship applications.

Solicitors and Lawyers
Solicitors advise and act on behalf of individuals, organisations, businesses and government departments in legal matters.
Requirements: Honours, Bachelor's degree

Typical Tasks
- Represents clients in court.
- Scrutinises statements, reports and legal documents relevant to the case being undertaken and prepares papers for court.
- Instructs counsel in higher and lower courts and pleads cases in lower courts as appropriate.
- Undertakes legal business on behalf of client in areas of business law, criminal law, probate, conveyancing and litigation, and acts as trustee or executor if required.
- Draws up contracts, leases, wills and other legal documents.

Legal Associate Professionals
Legal associate professionals provide administrative support for legal professionals and investigate and make recommendations on legal matters that do not fall within the province of a normal court of law.

Typical Tasks
- Draws up schedules of legal costs and advises on the allocation of legal costs and the level of legal fees.
- Assists in all aspects of probate and common law practice.
- Ensures their organisation complies with relevant regulations and their organisational policies.
- Attends court to assist barristers and solicitors in the presentation of a case.
- Ensures judges have the necessary legal other documents, manages their diary and carries out other administrative duties collates information, drafts briefs and other documents.
- Runs chambers on behalf of principals, develops the practice, manages the flow of work, decides which cases to accept, arranges appropriate fees and prepares financial records.

Typical Tasks
- Represents public and private organisations in court as necessary.
- Collates information, drafts briefs and other documents, interviews and advises clients and undertakes preparatory work for cases.
- Advises on, drafts documents for and assists in all aspects of property conveyancing.
- Advises employers, local and national government and other organisations on aspects of law and legislative implications of decisions made.
- Drafts and negotiates contracts on behalf of employers.
- Provides legal advice to individuals within Citizens Advice, Law Centres and other such establishments.
- Co-ordinates the activities of magistrates courts and advises magistrates on law and legal procedure.
Course fees shown are per annum for University Centre courses. Courses lasting longer than one year, fees will be payable per year.
All other courses show the total fees payable for the course.
