This qualification is designed for supervisors and first line managers who have operational responsibility for a defined area of activity; this qualification gives junior managers the communication and
motivational skills to help improve operational efficiency.

How long is the course?

Attendance is one day per month with optional tutorials over one academic year. Attendance at a residential weekend is a requirement of this course.

There will be individual written assignments (approximately 2500 words), on a selection of the learning units set throughout the programme, records of which should be kept in your Portfolio. The written assignments will be set at intervals d

What qualifications do I need?

Any Manager or aspiring Manager may take part in the programme although management experience and/or a supervisory management qualification is desirable. Prospective candidates must be able to demonstrate an ability to benefit from the course.

What can I progress onto?

CMI would recommend the below qualifications as a possible progression route, once complete the First
Line Management qualifications:
