Is this course for me?

This course gives a more detailed insight into the technical and advanced level of mechanical engineering. It is aimed at apprentices who have a basic understanding of the skills and knowledge within mechanical engineering and is looking to expand their career in either mechanical engineering or fabrication & welding.

What will I study?

Mechanical engineers develop and design machinery components that are used in manufacturing, construction, water, power, health and transport. You will study a range of subjects including: Health & Safety in the workplace, Mechanical maintenance, Wiring & testing circuits Manufacturing technology, Fabrication & welding

How long is the course?

You will attend College one day per week for one academic year with the remainder of your time in the workplace.

How will I be assessed?

You will complete the course through visual assessments from your assessor in the workplace and you will undertake assignments

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 A*-C / 9-4 GCSE subjects or equivalent including maths or English.

What can I progress onto?

You can progress to a higher level degree course and go into full time employment
