Is this course for me?

This course provides a broad critical, analytical and contextual understanding of the performing arts, specialising in dance and drama. It aims to develop professional, practical and analytical skills that are essential for the performing arts and transferable to other industrial contexts. During the duration of the course, students will plan, facilitate, deliver and evaluate projects that apply dance and drama participatory and performance subject expertise in social, educational, community and other socially engaged settings.

What will I study?

This course includes units covering; Doing Social Research; Experiencing the Workplace; Performance in Context; Applied Project for Performance; Professional Practice; Performance in Context; Education for Everyone; Introduction to Education Studies; Creative Performance Workshop for Dance and Drama; Performance Skills for Dance and Drama.

How long is the course?

Two academic years.

How will I be assessed?

This programme is assessed through a variety of methods including written assignments, portfolios,presentations and live performances.

What qualifications do I need?

64 UCAS points and a successful audition.Students must also possess a Grade C or above in English at GCSE or equivalent. Mature stiudents with experience, a portfolio of work and employer references will be considered.

What can I progress onto?

Successful students will have the opportunity to progress onto a relevant Top Up Degree programme at UCLan: BA (Hons) Theatre, BA (Hons) Acting, BA (Hons) Dance, Performance & Teaching or the BA (Hons) Education and Professional Studies Top Up at the Un
