Is this course for me?

This course will appeal to anyone who has an interest in the Performing Arts, is practically minded and sees themselves on the stage as a dancer, an actor or both. Also if you enjoy backstage work or stage management this could be the course for you.

What will I study?

You will study a variety of modules in both dance and drama. Although this course is predominantly practical, it will involve some written work looking at the performing arts business or the history of dance and drama. In addition you will have the opportunity to be involved in a dance show, a production and workshops/performances outside college.

How long is the course?

Full time for two academic years.

How will I be assessed?

Continual internal assessment of assignments, performances and a major project.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 A*-C / 9-4 GCSE subjects or equivalent including maths or English. You will need to successfully pass an audition.

What can I progress onto?

Higher Education in dance and/or drama, stage management and set design, working in theatres, rep work, red coats and more.

Other Information

You may also take part in schools tours, theatre trips, professional companies, teaching workshops, working with the local council on issue based work such as road safety, drink driving etc. and performing at rugby matches as pre match entertainment.
