Is this course for me?

Plumbers fit, service and repair hot and cold water systems, and heating systems in homes and businesses. If you want a varied job that makes good use of your practical skills and takes you out and about, plumbing could be the career for you. You will need to be good at solving problems, be able to follow technical plans, and understand the importance of health and safety. Youll also need good customer care skills.

What will I study?

It allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the plumbing and heating sector such as Domestic hot water, Sanitation and drainage systems and Domestic gas principles.

How long is the course?

One academic year.

How will I be assessed?

By continuous external and internal assessment; completing a portfolio containing workshop based evidence and ten examinations.

What qualifications do I need?

Successful completion of Level 2 in the subject plus maths or English at grade C / 4.

What can I progress onto?

This qualification can lead to you gaining employment in the plumbing industry. A highly experienced Plumber can earn over 37K a year. Those who work in the Manchester area can expect to be paid 20% more than a Plumber's average national salary. There are 5,143 plumbers employed in the region.
