Our Performing Arts students are soon to benefit from a new industry standard facility from September’23.

The much loved current School of the Arts building is due to be demolished over the coming months. This has provided the college with an opportunity to create a learning environment that can ensure that students have the technical skills of the future but can also respond to the increases in applications.

As the largest provider of creative and performing arts courses in the borough, we are experiencing an upturn in the applications in the creative and performing sector and this reflects a national trend. Dance, acting, media and music students will all benefit from the specialist creative hub.

The facility will offer a brand new 130 seat theatre with retractable seating and production standard stage and lighting rigs boasting the best immersive experience for both learners and audiences. Dancers will have access to two new purpose built sprung floor studios and music students will work in new soundproofed recording studios, practical classrooms and rehearsal spaces.

Multi-media suites, a TV studio with green screen and a new radio studio will ensure that students are working with the very latest technology.

College Principal, Anna Dawe said:

‘Working with local construction company Greenmount Projects, we are looking forward to opening this new facility for our students. The facilities will not only ensure that our students are developing their talent and skills in the very best environment but the spaces will be available for community use.”
