Students Put on Strong Show in GM Colleges Skills Competition
1 April 2026The annual Greater Manchester Colleges Skills Competition saw our students excel in showcasing their technical skills.
The inter-college competition, which took place throughout March, brought students together from all nine Further Education Colleges across Greater Manchester.
Our students performed highly across several curriculum areas, ranging from construction and engineering to early years and hospitality & catering.
Our student teams scooped first place in fashion and took the overall team prize in Engineering after multiple individual winners in the various disciplines that included CAD and Fabrication & Welding.
We had individual winners in Level 2 Electrical Installation, Games Design, Graphic Design, Level 3 Cookery & Pastry, Level 3 Nails, Level 3 Music and Level 2 Dance. Our Foundation students also earned first spot in the category of ‘Most Money Raised’ for their enterprise project.
The competition aims to raise the profile of technical skills in Greater Manchester and offers students, trainees and apprentices a chance to challenge, benchmark and showcase their skills.
Anna Dawe, Greater Manchester Colleges Chair, said: “The competition offers an excellent platform to highlight and promote technical education within our region. Strong technical skills create valuable career opportunities that will benefit not just the students, but also contribute to the future workforce and overall economic growth of Greater Manchester.”
