Is this course for me?

If you are interested in Art and Design then this broad course provides an introduction and grounding in a variety of Art and Design areas. It will help you develop your skills, knowledge and creativity through practical workshops and assignments, and enable you to build a portfolio of work.

What will I study?

You will develop your practical skills by exploring materials and processes in a range of areas which could include: Fine Art, 3D Design, Textile/Fashion Design, Graphic Design and Photography. You will also investigate the work of other artists and designers. During the final stage of the course there will be an opportunity to specialise in one of the areas covered.

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year

How will I be assessed?

You will produce exciting and individual pieces of coursework which are assessed by your lecturers and externally moderated. The final assignment is set by the awarding body.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 A*-D / 9-3 GCSE subjects including maths or English.

What can I progress onto?

You can progress onto Level 3 Diplomas such as Art & Design, Graphic Design, Fashion & Clothing, Photography, 3D Design with Interiors.

Other Information

You will receive tuition, support and guidance from experienced staff, who will guide you in achieving your goals. You will have the opportunity to attend a number of visits out of College to museums and galleries. As part of the programme you will have tutorials, enrichment and functional skills.
