At Wigan & Leigh College we have a wide range of academic and vocational courses as well as apprenticeships for school leavers to develop their skills for employment or further study.


Vocational courses include Animal Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Design, Science and many more with achievement rates significantly above the national average.

The unique A Level Professional Honours Programme offers career pathways in: Applied Medical, Business & Finance, Business & Marketing, Computer Science, Engineering, Health Professional, Media & Journalism and Teaching. You may also study a mixed programme, A Level Extended Choices, which combines A Levels and BTEC Level 3 qualifications as an alternative route to university, degree apprenticeships or careers.

Alongside 100% pass rates and high grade achievements, our A Level programmes was rated outstanding in terms of the value added for student progress according to government performance data.

Those who choose to take up apprenticeships can earn while they learn, in areas from engineering to construction, beauty therapy to business, health and social care to horticulture, and in many more sectors.

The College provides a transition service through the School Liaison Team, which provides careers advice, support and sampling opportunities for students in Years 8 to 11.

The Fab Futures Team provides the support for students with progression to university, an apprenticeship or employment. They can also help with queries relating to funding and financial assistance.
