If you want to specialise within this highly rewarding make up industry then this course is for you. The knowledge and skills included are highly commercial and taught to a professional level providing excellent employment opportunities. Our commercial salons are open to the public to ensure a realistic working environment this enables learners to develop skills necessary to work with confidence within such a diverse and exciting industry.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover:

Principles of working in the make-up industry

Anatomy & physiology for make-up artists

Research, develop and showcase make-up and hair artistry designs

The art of applying makeup

Hair artistry

Creative make-up artistry

As well as GCSE Maths and/or English if needed.

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year. All learners will be expected to attend work experience to develop employability skills.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through a combination of practical assessments, examinations and an internal synoptic assessment.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 or equivalent including maths or English.

What can I progress onto?

Progression pathway to the Level 3 in Theatrical, Special Effects and Media Make up. Employment within the cosmetic retailing industry. Your industry work placement will be integral in developing skills and building the confidence to gain employment.

Other Information

Both Image Centres have state of the art facilities offering a realistic working environment. You will need to purchase both a hair and make up kit and Image Centre uniform.

You will be required to do additional independent work from home to support your progression through the course.
