Is this course for me?

This course is designed to give you hands on experience both in the kitchen and front of house preparing you for the diverse demands of the hospitality industry. If you want to progress into employment in roles of general cook, catering assistant, or work as part of a team within the catering industry then this course is for you.

What will I study?

Students are required to study mandatory units which cover aspects of maintaining safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working as part of a catering team and maintaining food safety.

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year.

How will I be assessed?

Continual assessment through practical observation, oral questioning and written end tests.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 A*-D / 9-3 GCSE subjects including maths or English.

What can I progress onto?

Employment within the industry. Progression to Advanced Apprenticeship or a Level 3 Catering qualification.

Other Information

You will be expected to purchase a Chefs uniform and kit. All students will be expected to attend external work experience. High attendance on the course is a requirement for success.
