Is this course for me?

So what are T Levels? They are high quality work focused alternatives to A levels. There is academic study, coupled with practical, industry related skills and 45 days of industry placement built into the course. If wish to work in the construction sector, with a focus on Surveying and Design, Civil Engineering, Building Services Design, or Hazardous Materials Surveying the T Level is for you. It is suited to those who prefer a practical approach to learning yet want a predominantly classroom-based course.T Levels are an alternative to A levels, apprenticeships and other vocational & technical courses. Equivalent to 3 A Levels, a T Level focuses on vocational skills and can help you into skilled employment, university study or apprenticeships.

What will I study?

You will carry out a work placement of 45 days over the two-year programme - this will form 20 per cent of your time on the course. The rest of the time will be spent in College. You will gain first-hand experience of working at national, international or local architectural, civil and building services engineering industries such as JLP Surveys, BCEGI, Cundalls, Galliford Try, Network Rail and William Hare.

How long is the course?

Full Time for two academic years.

How will I be assessed?

Through continual assessment using practicalobservations, written assignments, exams and an employer set project.

What qualifications do I need?

A minumum of 5 GCSEs graded 9-4 including Maths, English & Science

What can I progress onto?

The T- Level in Design, Surveying and Planning of Construction should be the chosen qualification for you if you have aspirations to continue onto a higher level of technical study at University. Students who complete a T-Level in Design, Surveying and Planning would be able to attend University to study on the following Degree courses; Architecture BA (Hons), Civil Engineering BEng, Construction Management BSC, Quantity Surveying SC and Land Surveying BSC. This Technical Qualification is intended for students who want to progress to a career in the construction sector, with a focus on Surveying and Design, Civil Engineering, Building Services Design, or Hazardous Materials Surveying. Job roles could include; Surveying Technician, Civil Engineering Design Technician, Digital Engineering Technician, Civil Engineering Technician, Building Services Engineering Design Technician, Architectural Technician, Asbestos Analysis Surveyor, Construction Design Coordinator, Transport Planning Technician, Rail Engineering Design Technician, Architectural Technician, Construction Design Coordinator, Transport Planning Technician and Rail Engineering Design Technician.
