What will I study?

You will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the creative sector, including:

• the creative economy

• the individual in the creative industries

• cultural context and vocabulary

• audience and consumer needs

• legal and regulatory requirements

• professional standards and conduct in the workplace

• equality, diversity and inclusion requirements

• research skills

• project methodology and administration

• continued professional development.



In addition, you will also complete one module of occupation-specific content in Textiles and Fashion.

How long is the course?

Two academic years.

How will I be assessed?

Through continual assessment using practical observations, written assignments, exams and an employer set project.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects, graded 9-4 or equivalent, including English and Maths, and an art related subject.

What can I progress onto?

You may secure employment in the manufacturing, creative and design sectors across the clothing industry.



You could be producing premium garments for various markets, including womenswear, menswear and childrenswear.



Typical jobs include:

• Costume Maker

• Costume Tailor

• Dressmaker

• Production Machinist

• Seamstress

• Wardrobe Assistant



You may want to continue your studies to degree level on courses such as BA (Hons) Fashion or BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing and Promotion.
