Is this course for me?

The course provides the opportunity for you to immerse yourself in your creative practice.

You will follow graphics as a specific creative industry pathway and will research and develop your own practice.

The course culminates in a Final Exhibition to demonstrate your creativity and refined skills.

ALIGNED WITH INDUSTRY

You will visit design consultants and advertising agencies with the opportunity to work alongside local design practitioners.

WORK PLACEMENTS

You will work on live assignments and may take up an industry placement to develop your full potential.

INDUSTRY RELEVANT

Our networks with graphics industry leaders include global consultancy Pentagram and Manchester creative agency Absolute.

As part of the Greater Manchester Institute of Technology (GMIoT) we have access to the partner employer network.

INDUSTRY STANDARD FACILITIES

Industry standard equipment includes the latest cloud-based software and a large format printer in a graphics studio which replicates the real working environment.

EXPERIENCE OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

Trips to design studios at home and abroad are subsidised by the University Centre Advantage Scheme, this has in the past year included a visit to Lisbon where students met with industry professionals.

What will I study?

Modules include:

• Research and Creative Experimentation for the Industrial Practitioner

• Professional Practice for the Creative Industries

• Business Awareness and Enterprise Project

• Final Exhibition

How long is the course?

Full time two days per week for one academic year.

How will I be assessed?

Programmes are assessed through a variety of methods, from portfolio assessments to project work and exhibitions.

What qualifications do I need?

Completion of the FdA Creative Industries or an HND/Foundation Degree in a creative industries related subject.

What can I progress onto?

Some take up post-graduate study in the form of masters degrees.

You may go on to work for web-based or traditional agencies across the UK. Some take up freelance work as a graphic designer.

Other Information

As a student on a course awarded by UCLan you have access to their facilities including libraries, social facilities and the Students' Union.

You will be taught by tutors have a wide range of professional experience in branding and typography, with some continuing to work as freelance designers.

Interior Designers

Interior designers plan, direct and undertake the creation of designs for interior spaces, procure materials and oversee implementation of the plans.

  • Prepares designs to meet the client's needs and draws up sketches for consideration by the client.
