Is this course for me?

The programme provides students with analytical thinking skills and the principles of mechanical engineering.

What will I study?

Modules such as: Engineering Maths, Engineering Science, Engineering Design, Mechanical Principles, Fluid Mechanics, CAD/CAM, Managing a Professional Engineering Project and Fundamentals of Thermodynamics and Heat Engines.

How long is the course?

Two evenings per week for 2 years. Additional units can be taken to convert into a Higher National Diploma

How will I be assessed?

The programme is assessed through a variety of methods from written assignments and projects.

What qualifications do I need?

A relevant L3 Diploma with 96 UCAS points. Mature students with experience, a portfolio of work and employer references will be considered. Students must possess a Grade 4 or above in Maths at GCSE or equivalent.

What can I progress onto?

Progression to a HND Engineering (Mechanical) and then onto a BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering programme.

Typical Tasks

  • Organises and establishes control systems to monitor operational efficiency and performance of materials and systems.
