Is this course for me?

The purpose of this qualification is to develop students as professional, self reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the engineering sector and to adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualification aims to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them.

What will I study?

Modules such as: Engineering Maths, Engineering Design, Mechanical Principles, Fluid Mechanics, Managing a Professional Engineering Project, Fundamentals of Thermodynamics and Heat Engines, Production Engineering for Manufacture and Quality and Process Improvement.

How long is the course?

Full time HNC studied full time over one year and can continue to complete a HND for a further year.

How will I be assessed?

The programme is assessed through a variety of methods from written assignments and projects.

What qualifications do I need?

A relevant Level 3 Diploma with 96 UCAS points. Mature students with experience, a portfolio of work and employer references will be considered. Students must possess a Grade 4 or above in Maths at GCSE or equivalent.

What can I progress onto?

Progression to HND and then further progression to complete the BEng (Hons) Mechanical and Manufacturing Top Up degree.

  • Organises and establishes control systems to monitor operational efficiency and performance of materials and systems.
