Is this course for me?

This course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career as a Sport Scientist or Performance Analysis Specialist. The Extended Diploma is ideal for students who want to study sports science in both a theoretical and practical manner to a high challenging academic level equivalent to 3 A levels allowing for progression to university.

What will I study?

Modules studied will include: Anatomy for Sport and Exercise, Sport and Exercise Physiology, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Research Methods for Sport and Exercise Science, Sport and Exercise, Massage, Sports Injuries, Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise, Analysis of Sports Performance, Sports Biomechanics

How long is the course?

Full time for two academic years

How will I be assessed?

By a variety of continuous assessments, both practical and written. Learners will also undertake externally assessed units in year 1 and year 2

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-4 or equivalent including maths and English.

What can I progress onto?

Achievement will allow progression onto the HND Sport and Exercise Science Higher at Wigan and Leigh College, Higher Education programmes at external universities or employment within the Sport and Leisure industry.
