Is this course for me?

Do you need to develop your teaching and training skills? Are you training within your job? Yes, then this course will develop a range of skills in planning assessments, critically evaluate what consitutes 'good' teaching and how to design a successful lesson. If you are thinking about becoming a teacher, then this course will allow you to explore the basic principles of teaching. This qualification is aimed at a range of learners, including: pre service and in service candidates who need an initial award for their role as a teacher, trainer, Adult Community Learning Centre or Training Providers. The course is also suitable for those delivering work based training within voluntary, community, private and public organisations.

What will I study?

Understanding the roles and responsibilities in relation to teaching, understanding appropriate teaching and learning approaches within your specialist area, plan, deliver and evaluate micro teaching sessions or assessed practice in a real work environment and understanding the use of assessment methods and record keeping.

How long is the course?

Part time over 1 year at 3 hours per week.

How will I be assessed?

By assignment and continuous assessment. There is also a mini teach component on this course.

What qualifications do I need?

A Level 2 qualification in English is desirable.

What can I progress onto?

Level 5 Certificate in Education if you have a L3 qualification in your subject specialism.
