Wigan & Leigh College held successful talks with award-winning built environment consultancy, Hoare Lea resulting in a paid T Level Industry Placement offer for a student taking the brand-new T Level in Electrical Installation.

Horae Lea have worked on big projects for the likes of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Manchester College City Campus and Alexander Stadium.

September 2024 will see the college role out a swathe of new T Level courses in subject areas including engineering, construction, legal, animal care and fashion.

Students will be invited to a recruitment selection event where they will be interviewed by representatives from the firm for the unique work placement.

Assistant Principal, Neil Campbell said:

“To have such a large construction company invest their resources in local young talent is fantastic. We look forward to working with them and seeing one of our students progress throughout their placement.
“They will have the unique opportunity to experience a real working environment on some exciting projects; working with experts and experienced professionals, which will give them a huge boost to their overall learning journey and to their future career prospects too.”

The college already works with established construction employers including Wates Group, Tilbury Douglas, Greenmount Projects and Eric Wright Civil Engineers who provide T Level placement opportunities for students. With the addition of Hoare Lea, students choosing to study a T Level in either electrical installation or civil engineering will be best placed to gain the strongest opportunities to develop their skills.
