Why I chose a T level?

"I get to do the work experience and the college help with finding the placement. It's given me a chance to see different sections within the construction industry.

“There's a wide range of learning which means it's a good qualification to have and it's also helped me with interviewing too. Not many applicants at my age have the work experience that I have got from doing this course, and it's also equivalent to 3 A levels.

“You get to see what it's like on the site with the placement and gain that industry experience.

“My course is situated in the Centre for Advanced Technical Studies, which is a really nice building and the teachers are very helpful and really get hand on with my learning experience and it's just a good environment to be in.”

About his placement with Keepmoat

"They came into college to give a talk and I sent my CV off to them and was invited for an interview.

“I've been on a building site in Worsley Mesnes shadowing site managers and quantity surveyors and on the back of this I got a part-time job for Sterling Plastering who are subcontracted by Keepmoat. I work two days a week as a supervisor within quantity surveying where I work on job estimates.”

Progression

Level 6 Chartered Surveying at University of Salford - Degree Apprenticeship (Quantifying/Supervising) with Sterling Plastering

“I chose the degree apprenticeship route as I always knew that I didn't want to get into debt with a traditional university course. I also prefer to learn onsite which is what I have found out during my T Level placement; and getting paid at the same time is also a bonus."
