Jack Reynolds
Jack Reynolds studied on our A Level Professional Honours Programme Engineering pathway achieved A A A. He's secured a place at Lancaster University to study BSc (Hons) Natural Sciences.
Wigan & Leigh College has a long-standing history and reputation for providing excellence in engineering and manufacturing and is committed to training highly skilled engineers for the future. The College specialises in intelligent engineering including mechatronics, robotics, automation and autonomous vehicles, as well as the development and evolution of hybrid technologies.
£1.4m was invested in the Centre to ensure that future engineers develop technical skills and knowledge using the latest equipment and technologies, which include a CNC Milling Machine, CNC Plasma Cutter and Thermo Fluid Bench and Bernoullis Principle Test equipment.
Our established Centre of Excellence is focused on raising aspirations in Engineering through outstanding teaching and delivers a wide range of courses up to degree level including Apprenticeships for careers in;
Partnerships with many employers including Sellafield and MBDA Missile Systems deliver real work experience for students and our expert tutors are time served engineers.
Our students progress onto University, an apprenticeship or employment in their chosen career.
Our specialist tutors are time-served experts in their industry and hold the highest qualifications in their field. They have enjoyed great careers in the engineering sector and engage in continued professional development to stay ahead of current developments.

We have worked in partnership with Sellafield Ltd for more than three years. We jointly developed a nuclear degree apprenticeship programme to meet specific company needs and ensure that their apprentices are equipped with the skills for a career in the nuclear engineering sector. Sellafield Ltd apprentices undertake an intensive five year programme, gaining hands on experience in the industry and academic study at Wigan & Leigh College's Centre of Excellence in Engineering.

Braden enjoyed studying full time at the College and has successfully completed his Level 3 Extended Diploma Electrical & Electronic Engineering achieving Distinction* | Distinction* | Distinction*.
We offer £2,000 scholarships for talented students to support their studies. The cash is a welcome boost and often goes towards paying for specialist materials or equipment, College trips or savings for university study.
