Enrichment

Beyond the Classroom
During your studies, you’ll have the chance to enhance your learning with wider activities, which aren’t only loads of fun but also boost applications for university and employment. Enrichment activities develop new interests, increase knowledge and skills, improve your self-confidence and provide a welcome respite from assessments and exams.
Competitions
Get in the game and showcase your skills in college-wide, regional, or national competitions like WorldSkills and GM Skills (Greater Manchester Colleges Skills Competitions). This is an ideal opportunity for you to compete against students locally, regionally and nationally further developing your technical skills as well as getting you work ready. As well as taking part in competitions in all the colleges across Greater Manchester, we also hosted the GM Skills Competition for Hospitality & Catering, where our students won the top prize.
We’re also proud to have hosted several competitions of the WorldSkills UK National Finals over the last couple of years. Students and apprentices from across the UK competed to impress the judges in events like Aircraft Maintenance and Industrial Electronics at our Pagefield campus, and Health and Social Care at our Centre for Advanced Technical Studies.
Trips
Expand your horizons and see how your skills apply around the world. Explore Barcelona with Art & Design, compete in Jamaica with the Men’s Rugby team, train with Benfica’s professional football coaches in Portugal, or take in the sights of Iceland with our A Level students.
Events
Our students get involved in a variety of events, from music charity concerts and Race for Life to volunteering for the student council, sports, and extra-curricular groups like the film club and LGBTQ+ group.
