A Night for Celebration
3 April 2025We had much to celebrate at this year’s Apprenticeship Awards as the event followed news that we became the number one college provider for apprentices in Greater Manchester.



The Department for Education National Achievement Rate tables confirmed that our achievement rate is 70.8% which is over 10% above the national average.
We’re the largest college provider of 16-18 apprentice opportunities in Greater Manchester with the highest achievement rate. This underlines our commitment to providing opportunities for our students and meeting the needs of our employers.
TV magician and presenter, Ben Hanlin hosted the awards for the audience of employers and their apprentices in a celebration of their achievements.

Sectors from engineering, construction, business, food manufacturing and health were represented.
Wigan Council won the Co-Designed Curriculum award and Willmott Dixon, who are currently overseeing our Parsons Walk campus redevelopment, won the Social Value award.
Operations Apprentice at MBDA, Megan Clark won Engineering Fitter Apprentice of the Year and took home the Overall Apprentice of the Year accolade.

She said: “It came as a pleasant surprise to me. I am thrilled and grateful to receive these awards. Thank you to the college for recognising my hard work in my apprenticeship.”
Alice Foster scooped the Higher Education Nuclear Technician Apprentice of the Year. The Cavendish Nuclear mechanical designer added: “It was a brilliant evening, and I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me on my apprenticeship journey.”
