Dr Dane Anderton is a dedicated educator and Programme Director at the University of Liverpool Management School, where he oversees the Liverpool Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and broader MBA Programmes. His work focuses on creating meaningful learning experiences and supporting students through their academic and professional journeys. He’s also committed to helping maintain the School’s strong reputation and international accreditation.

Dane earned his PhD in Management Studies at the University of Liverpool, with research exploring how regional industries like creative and life sciences have developed over time. His academic interests include place leadership, urban sustainability, and inclusive growth, and he values hands-on learning that connects classroom theory to the real world.

Outside the university, Dane is deeply involved in public service. He is a local councillor for Leigh West Ward and serves as the Portfolio Holder for Children and Families at Wigan Council, where he helps shape policy and services that support young people and families across the borough. He also chairs the Adult Learning Board, using his background in education to help improve opportunities for adult learners.

Dane is the Chair of Governors at both Newton West Park Primary School and The Westleigh High School, where he works closely with school leaders to support student development and ensure high standards in education. He’s passionate about creating opportunities for children and adults alike, and about making sure local services reflect the needs of the community.

Dane is passionate about tackling inequalities that affect children, young people and young adults—working to create opportunities and help them flourish with the right support at the right time.

Outside of work, Dane enjoys travelling and spending time at airfields, where he get to indulge in his interest in aviation.
