With over three decades of experience shaping and leading adult education across the Northwest, Ian has built a career defined by purpose, innovation, and impact. Since beginning his journey at Wigan & Leigh College in 1988, Ian has remained steadfast in his belief that education transforms lives—particularly for adults seeking new opportunities, confidence, and direction.

Throughout his career, Ian has combined strategic leadership with a passion for accessibility and inclusion. His work has spanned curriculum design, partnership development, and the delivery of large-scale government-funded programmes, always with a focus on empowering individuals and strengthening communities.

Holding senior leadership positions with Wigan & Leigh College, The City of Liverpool College and several Independent Training Providers, Ian has led teams through growth, change, and success. His last position as Managing Director of an independent training provider saw him oversee a diverse portfolio of adult learning and skills programmes, championing innovation and quality at every stage.

Now semi-retired, Ian continues to share his expertise and enthusiasm for lifelong learning—advocating for adult education that is dynamic, inclusive, and responsive to the real needs of learners and employers alike.
