UPS
UPS Building and Maintenance LTD encountered significant challenges in recruiting skilled apprentices and providing effective plumbing work placements. They required a training provider who could deliver high-quality training and development to bridge the skills gap in their workforce.
Wigan & Leigh College collaborated with UPS to address these challenges by developing a tailored apprenticeship and work placement program. We provided comprehensive training that combined theoretical knowledge with practical, on-the-job experience to ensure that apprentices were well-prepared for their roles.
To meet the specific needs of UPS, we adapted our training programs to include specialised courses in advanced plumbing techniques, health and safety, and professional development. These bespoke measures ensured that the trainees received a well-rounded education that equipped them with the necessary skills and knowledge. The partnership between UPS and Wigan & Leigh College yielded excellent results. Both candidates who participated in the program performed exceptionally well during their placements. Their mentors praised their aptitude and work ethic, which can be attributed to the high-quality training and development provided by the College, as well as the individuals’ personal dedication. This successful collaboration not only addressed UPS’s immediate recruitment needs but also enhanced the overall calibre of their workforce.
