Recruiting an apprentice can sometimes be a hard and long process however we do a lot of the work for you. We can post the position for free on the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) website for external candidates and there are hundreds of candidates within our own talent pool.
We advertise internally to our apprentice work ready students, and we can provide an initial assessment to ensure they meet your criteria. Attracting a greater diversity of applications means you get to interview the best possible candidates.
We have a dedicated apprenticeship vacancy matching service . We have a range of candidates that are apprenticeship ready in a range of sectors.
Once our employer engagement team have worked with yourselves to establish the best apprenticeship for your company, the service includes:
- Promotion of your vacancy on the NAS (National Apprenticeship Service).
- Promotion to our talent pool, social media channels and our website.
- Initial interview to ensure they have the correct grades and skills to suit your business.
- You can shortlist and arrange an interview in college or in your place of work.
- You can make the final decision on who to recruit and who is best suited for your company.
Can I get funding to hire an apprentice?
You could get £1000 for taking on an apprentice who is 16-18 years old or aged 19-25 (with an Education Health Care Plan or who has been in care)
Wigan Council has also launched the Future Apprentices for Business (FAB) grants programme to support businesses to create new apprenticeships.
What if I want to develop my current staff?
We can offer fully funded apprenticeships for current employees to build their skillset, building your workforce and business success. Your staff can also pursue long-term learning through our higher and degree apprenticeships or University Centre Wigan & Leigh College programmes.
